INCOME THRESHOLD INCREASES
Effective from 1 July 2025, indexation of the skilled visa income thresholds commenced from 1 July 2025, increasing by 4.6%.
Any new nomination applications, from 1 July 2025, must meet the new relevant income threshold or the annual market salary rate, whichever is higher. The increased skilled visa income thresholds will not apply to existing visa holders and nominations lodged before 1 July 2025.The changes are as follows;
Core Skills Income Threshold (CSIT) will increase from AUD73,150 to AUD76,515. This will impact nomination applications for the Core Skills stream of the Skills in Demand visa (subclass 482) and the Employer Nomination Scheme visa (subclass 186).
Specialist Skills Income Threshold (SSIT) will increase from AUD135,000 to AUD141,210. This will impact nomination applications for the Specialist Skills stream of the Skills in Demand visa (subclass 482).
The Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold (TSMIT) will increase from AUD73,150 to AUD76,515. This will impact nomination applications lodged for the Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional visa (subclass 494) and the Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (RSMS) (subclass 187). This is in line with the CSIT and subject to approval of relevant legislation.
it will be important for sponsors to review salaries, particularly with staff that maybe working under an existing subclass 482 visa where the TSMIT was much lower 3-4 years ago. A new nomination will need to be at the current rate and this for some could mean an increase of around $20,000 if the existing visa holder is still at the lower rate of TSMIT from 2022 of $53,900.
FAIR WORK HIGH INCOME THRESHOLD
The FWHIT increases from $175,000 up to $183,100 and this will impact any existing subclass 482 visa holder is is over 45 and looking to apply for an age exemption under the transitional stream of subclass 186. It will be important that any guaranteed earnings are above the FWHIT for 2 years in the past 3 when applying for PR. Past thresholds is in the link here.
